Wealthy young women are being murdered, and the police aren't looking for answers in the right places. Enter Tandy Angel. Her first case was the mystery of her parents' deaths. Now she's working to exonerate her brother of his girlfriend's homicide. And danger just got closer.

One of the recent victims was a student at Tandy's own elite school. She has a hunch it may be the work of a serial killer... and Tandy perfectly fits the profile of the killer's targets. Can she untangle the mysteries in time? Or will she be the next victim?

James Patterson keeps the confessions coming as Tandy delves deeper into her own tumultuous history and the skeletons in the Angel family closet.

James Patterson remains a pivotal figure in the young adult fiction genre. More known for his mystery novels over the past few years, Patterson has made a strong base in young adult fiction. With series like Maximum Ride and Daniel X, James Patterson seems to have the younger genre down pack. The new Confessions series, I believe is his most polished yet. With the storyline, great characters, and of course the vintage Patterson mystery, the first two books in the series are obvious bestsellers.
Now the second book, the Private School Murders, is a great sequel to Confessions of a Murder Suspect. Keeping with the fast paced style, the story becomes a mad dash from start to finish. Tandoori is back and her family is still messed up. While her brother lives in custody for supposed murder; mysterious murders are popping up around NYC and lets not forget the typical teenage lover affair. With the help of her friends and family, she hopes to solve all of the cases in time. Filled with tension on every page, this book turns out to be better than the first. Tandoori as a main character really becomes relatable and on a whole, the story just seems to flow just right from page to page.

*Side Note from Deitre

Although I try not to judge a book by it's cover, I must bring to light the fact that book 1, had an original cover that was very dramatic and gets the reader ready to dive into the book. Since the first publication, new cover styles have been created that just do not lend to the same effect. Be sure to let the name and writing alone, James Patterson, entice you to read this series.

Authors: James Patterson, Chris Grabenstein
Illustrator: Laura Park
Reading Level: MG
Genre: Humor/School
Released: December 10th 2012
Review Source: Little, Brown and Company
Available: Amazon

Summary: (from goodreads) Jamie Grimm is a middle schooler on a mission: he wants to become the world's greatest standup comedian--even if he doesn't have a lot to laugh about these days. He's new in town and stuck living with his aunt, uncle, and their evil son Stevie, a bully who doesn't let Jamie's wheelchair stop him from messing with Jamie as much as possible. But Jamie doesn't let his situation get him down. He practices the craft of stand-up every day on friends, family, and the willing customers at his Uncle Frankie's diner. When Uncle Frankie mentions a contest called The Planet's Funniest Kid Comic, Jamie knows he has to enter. But are the judges only rewarding him out of pity because of his wheelchair, like Stevie suggests? Will Jamie ever share the secret of his troubled past instead of hiding behind his comedy act?

Following the bestselling success of the hilarious Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life, James Patterson continues to dish out the funnies in another highly-illustrated, heartfelt middle school story.

I picked this book up purely to help out my son, who is behind on reading for pleasure. Which happens when you are a junior in high school. Being a middle school teacher for 10 years, I thought that I could breeze through this quickly, check it off the list and move to the next. See, I'm someone, who really doesn't watch comedies, sitcoms, read comedies, get jokes the first time they are told etc. etc. So when I saw I Funny and James Patterson, I thought, I'll give it a try. Now, this is the first book that I've ever read written by James Patterson. However, my oldest has probably read everything YA that he has ever written. Lets just say I know why. WOW, where should I begin? Mr. Patterson had me rethinking my laughing ability after the first chapter. I found my self reading and pausing to find the nearest kid in the family to retell the joke that I just read. Even my dearest hubby was so surprised that it took this long for me to really get into comedy all because of a book. Am I completely reformed? Not yet, however did this book open up some brand new doors for me? Absolutely!!!

Jamie Grimm is the main character. He uses a wheel chair. He's a middle schooler and is determined to enter the Planet's Funniest Kid Comic Contest. Throughout the novel we follow Jamie's journey through this quest. He entertains his audience through every page, until the very end. Does Jamie win the coveted title? Pick this book up, devote a few hours and find out!

Book Review: Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro

Confessions of a Murder Suspect
Teen Detective Series #1
Author: James Patterson & Maxine Paetro
Reading Level: YA
Genre: Mystery/Crime
Released: September 24th 2012
Review Source: Little, Brown and Company
Available: Amazon

James Patterson returns to the genre that made him famous with a thrilling teen detective series about the mysterious and magnificently wealthy Angel family . . . and the dark secrets they're keeping from one another.

On the night Malcolm and Maud Angel are murdered, Tandy Angel knows just three things: 1) She was the last person to see her parents alive. 2) The police have no suspects besides Tandy and her three siblings. 3) She can't trust anyone--maybe not even herself. Having grown up under Malcolm and Maud's intense perfectionist demands, no child comes away undamaged. Tandy decides that she will have to clear the family name, but digging deeper into her powerful parents' affairs is a dangerous-and revealing-game. Who knows what the Angels are truly capable of?

James Patterson, one of the most well known authors, some how continues to produce amazing series. With the Maximum Ride, Daniel X, and Witch and Wizard series reaching millions of readers, it seems that maybe Mr. Patterson would take a break. Thankfully this is not the case with the renowned author's new novel Confessions of A Murder Suspect. Written with his extremely visual writing style, Patterson drifts away from his genre of fantasy and science fiction and goes to a more realistic mystery with a secondary author by the name of Maxine Paetro. The novel uses many dramatic twists and really portrays the emotional aspect of the book. The quest for perfection is highlighted to the extreme in this book!

In the novel we follow teenager Tandy Angel who awakens one night to find that her parents have been murdered. The murder seems almost impossible to commit from an outsider making Tandy and her brothers instant suspects. Now Tandy's parents were no ordinary parents. They just so happened to be extremely rich parents. Tandy and her siblings have led a highly cultured life, in where their parents control everything to achieve perfection. This control however, sadly turns each sibling into a type of sociopath which Tandy realizes makes them prime suspects. While dealing with the conflicting feelings of loss for her parents, Tandy does vow to find the killer and bring them to justice.

An emotional roller coaster, this novel thrives off of dramatic twists and surprises. As always Patterson does a wonderful job of composing his characters. My only wish for this new book of Patterson, is that would be longer, providing more back story. I feel it would have greatly enhanced the over story. Nevertheless, this is a great book, and will surely become a best-seller!

Book Review: Angel by James Patterson

Max, Dylan, and the rest of their friends must soon join forces with Fang and his new gang for an explosive showdown in Paris that's unlike anything you've ever imagined . . . or read.

James Patterson is one of the most famous authors who is continuously able to produce amazing novels by the bucket load. In the Maximum Ride series Mr. Patterson uses his witty and humorous dialogue combined with fast paced action to create a trend setting young adult series. In the seventh installment, Angel, Patterson portrays the old saying of “If ain't broke, don’t fix it” with Angel feeling like other books in the series. While in most cases this would be a negative, the author uses it to his advantage, making the book just as entertaining as the one before. What Angel does is take that well used formula and broadens it into something richer.

In Angel we find Max reeling from the lost of her best pal and soul mate Fang who has decided to start his own flock of mutant kids. As always though there is no time for relaxation and our heroine is thrown another apocalyptic problem. New characters are brought in and some secrets of the past are somewhat revealed. While Angel is a very fast paced and entertaining book there are points where the flow of the book starts to get repetitive to a point where you can quickly predict how a character will react to certain situations. Despite this, James Patterson has once again added a great addition to the Maximum ride series. Nevermore, The final Maximum Ride Adventure installment is due out in Aug. So there is plenty of time to catch on a great series if you haven’t started.

RIP MAXIMUM RIDE!

On August 6, 2012, James Patterson’s #1 New York Times bestselling Maximum Ride will come to an end. After seven dramatic, spellbinding, can’t-put-them-down books, Max Ride and her flock will make their explosive and dramatic last stand – and the stakes have never been higher – in NEVERMORE.

The apocalyptic ending is top-secret, leaving the series’ hoards of anxious and passionate fans raving about the Max and the flock. In the meantime, I would be happy to provide you with copies of the series – including THE ANGEL EXPERIMENT, which introduced Maximum Ride, an incredible young woman destined to save the world – for you to be up-to-date on the series and also to promote the exciting upcoming finale.

Who is Maximum Ride? She and her “flock” – Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel – are kids with a special gift: because of a government experiment, they can fly.
