One is an easy story to read. Okay, maybe not easy but a quick read. It is however, an easy story to fall in love with.
One will make you fly thru those pages while making you feel everything. Yes, everything. You will cry, laugh and appreciate life. Frankly, I couldn’t put One down. I finished this story in less than 3 hours and was left stunned.
WOW.
Just WOW.
One is the story of two unique individuals. Tippi and Grace are conjoined twins. They’re off to a new adventure, that is experience high school for the first time. Sure high school can be a blast for some people, but for these conjoined twins, it will be a challenge. They know people will stare, judge and make their life miserable. However, they are up for the task. These brave souls.
Unlike everyone, Jon and Yasmeen, the outcast of the school, will make Tippi and Grace feel welcome. I don’t want to go into details, as this story is short, and you need to read it. However, when these four share their stories and background, they will make you like you’re living a luxury life.
Sadly, it is so easy to judge, to make fun of people and say cruel things. Why? Why is it so easy for humans to treat one another poorly? One is told by Grace’s point of view and she will open your eyes to things you never thought possible of. The cruel things people say to the twins, the way they stare… It’s a punch straight to the heart.
I wish to tell you more but it will be best if you read it yourself.
One is an amazing story everyone should read. The story is well and emotionally written and it will rip your heart out. The end will make you weep for hours. The seriousness of this book will leave you shocked. Sure it may not be for everyone, since it deals with serious issues. Nonetheless, everyone should read this powerful story.

2. For the readers: can you tell us a little bit about ONE and the characters?
One is the story of Grace and Tippi, sixteen-year-old conjoined twins living and thriving in Hoboken, New Jersey. They have been homeschooled all their lives, but as the book opens they are forced to attend a real school and face all the horrors that come with high school. But just as they feel their lives are changing for the better, they get quite sick and have a horrible decision to make.
3. Who was your favorite character to write? What about your least favorite?
Grace is the narrator, so I love her and feel I know her so intimately. I didn’t have a least favorite character to write!
4. Did you come up with the title prior to writing the story, in the process of writing the story, or afterward?
The story and the title came along at the same time, really. I know the point of the book is to show that these girls are actually two people with two different lives, but somehow One felt that it spoke to all the ways in which others see them and also to how they even see themselves, at times.
5. Can you share with us a fun fact, either about yourself or your book?
The character of Yasmeen is named after a friend of mine called Yasmeen Ismail, who is a brilliant children’s writer and illustrator and who illustrated the cover of my previous novel, Apple and Rain.
She completed her Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Warwick in 2003 and in 2010 received an Edward Albee Fellowship for writing.
She currently lives in NYC.

How do I even begin to review a book that was so down right good?
Tippi and Grace are conjoined twins who have done their best to stay hidden from the world by being home schooled. Adjusted and comfortable they are suddenly thrown for a loop when they are suddenly forced to attend high school. Bad times and good times await them.
One is narrated by Grace, a voice I fell greatly in love with! So lets' face it. How much do we really know about conjoined twins? I know I didn't have much knowledge on it so reading this book really put certain things into perspective for me. It is completely raw. At one point Grace talks about soul mates, and how we each have one. And that maybe her and Tippi were soul mates that didn't separate, and how lucky they must be because of that. I love that!
The characters are amazing. I didn't find a single one I disliked. Sure they were flawed human beings, but that is exactly what made this book honest. The plot, the story, the intensive research Crossan put into the subject, it all boils down to perfection. At one point I was waiting for Tippi to take over so we could read from her perspective. It never came, but that was completely OK. I wouldn't have liked anything more from One.
One is written in verse which made it go by so fast. But, even so it's so great that it would've gone by fast anyway. I went through every possible emotion while reading this book. One is the kind of profound book that will stay with you forever. I know for sure I will go back and re-read it!

Heidi McLaughlin: Started with Lost in You and now Ive read a couple of McLaughlin's books such as My Unexpected Forever. Great writer.
Samantha Shannon: It took me a few tries to get into the book, but when I came back to it and started from the beginning again with a clear mind, I was SOLD on The Bone Season.
Jennifer Miller: Pretty Little Lies was a much needed HEA read and I loved Miller's writing especially how she began each chapters, Awesome touch!
Sarah Crossan: Breathe is one of those books that pops into your head time after time long after you finished reading it.
Shannon Messenger: I am thrilled I did pick up Let the Sky Fall, its such a unique concept Messenger wrote that I fell in love with.
Rick Yancey: The 5th Wave was amazeballs, had me at the edge of my seat the whole time.
Zoraida Córdova: Love me a great story based in the sea with all sorts of sea creatures such as Mermaids with razor-sharp teeth. Córdova won herself a fan with The Vicious Deep.
Abigail Gibbs: Her story started off on Wattpad and now is a published book that has turned series, Can't wait to sink my teeth into The Dark Heroine's sequel Autumn Rose.

Quinnshould be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it's also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn't every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.
Beawants to tell him that none of this is fair; they'd planned a trip together, the two of them, and she'd hoped he'd discover her out here, not another girl.
And as they walk into the Outlands with two days' worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?
The characters can be weakly played at times, but the story of the three youngsters is quite a tale. Quinn is a highly ranked government official’s son and is supposed to agree to the program of Breathe, the corporation that managed to supply oxygen to the people, but soon learns he doesn’t. There could be a better world and he knows that Breathe is keeping the dome’s citizens from experiencing the taste of independence. Bea, who is the money-deprived, appreciate-what-you-have kind of girl, is very generous person, but I found her to be a very predictable character. She is the goody-two shoes, but is willing to take risks for others, especially her ‘crush’, Quinn. Alina is the true rebel and focused on serving the rebellion no matter what. She is the firebrand of the group and can get a little heated and feisty at sometimes. Her attitude towards the Bea and Quinn is normally agitated, which is very laughable. The leaders of the rebellion could be more loathing towards Breathe and I thought the story was missing that throughout both sets of leaders. The leaders of Breathe acted as if they weren’t doing anything wrong and they really were locking people in a pod for the better of them. It could’ve used a bit more evil and the ending seemed a bit rushed.
Breathe is a gripping novel, excluding the weaker parts. It is a must read for dystopian fans since it gives a whole new meaning to being controlled. Crossan did a great job with Breathe and I will certainly be looking for a sequel.
