Genre: Fantasy
Released: December 13th 2016
Review Source: Razorbill

An epic clash between gods and mortals threatens to tear Mytica apart . . . and prove that not even the purest of love stands a chance against the strongest of magic.

MAGNUS and CLEO are forced to test the strength of their love when Gaius returns to Mytica claiming he's no longer the King of Blood but a changed man seeking redemption.

LUCIA, pregnant with the child of a Watcher, has escaped the clutches of the unhinged fire god. Her powers are dwindling as she goes forth to fulfill a prophecy that will keep her baby safe . . . but could mean her demise.

JONAS treks back to Mytica with a plan to overtake Amara, but fate takes hold when he runs into the beautiful Princess Lucia and joins her on her perilous journey.

AMARA has taken the Mytican throne, but with no way to unleash the water magic trapped within her stolen crystal, she'll never be able to seize glory and get sweet revenge.

And what kind of darkness will descend--and who will be safe--after Prince Ashur reveals the dangerous price he paid to cheat death?

You guys!! MAGNUS!!!!!!

Well well well, I should've known, it takes a great book boyfriend to take me off my reading slump. Having Magnus back was not only the best thing to my reading life but he brought light to my heart.... only for a few hours. Yes, few, because this book completely broke me. It was pure brutal to my heart. Bloody brutal. Yet captivating, still brutal.

Where to begin? Where to begin? Cleo? Magnus? Lucia? Jonas? The alliances? The betrayals? The kissing? YES SO MUCH KISSING! The what the fudge moments? The ending? So much, so sooo much going on and yet so little time.

Let me start with Cleo AND Magnus. Because  these love birds are simply adorable and inspiring. I love them so so sooo much. I love how they love each other! I want to be them. With so much love, you think they will be happy? Guess again, because these two may love each other but they must keep their love as secret. Unknown to the public. They should be screaming their love to everyone.

As for the rest of the gang.... Gosh, these people are brutal! There is SO much to say, as this book will reveal those whom are loyal and those that are willing to stab a friend or friends. Ugh, so much betrayal after betrayals. I want to skip the months to come because I need that final book. I CANNOT WAIT ANOTHER YEAR! I NEED TO KNOW... NOW! Guys, the ending. The brutal ending. The bloody ending. I need air. No, I need the final book.

If you're ready to dive in, just beware not to trust anyone because this book is mad. The dead are back and the living are dead. Oh gosh, let me not say anything else, JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK!

I'm supposed to pick some of favorite quotes but to be honest, I can't. I am at a loss. Just think about this quote and what's to come:

“This love you think you feel for my son? The day will come when you will have to choose between Magnus and power. And I know, without a doubt, that you will choose power.”

What will be the final choice?

I'm sure you've heard it before. Falling Kingdom being compared to Game of Thrones. Well, yes, yes indeed. You want to read it but haven't had the time to. Would you wait for whole season of A Game of Thrones to be over only to watch it later? No, of course not. Then I'm telling you now... Falling Kingdom series is not to be put aside.

Earlier this year I've read A Book of Spirit and Thieves. Another fantastic series by the very own Morgan Rhodes. When I was done with this story, I was amazed! Little after, I tried to pick the audibooks for Falling Kingdoms but for some reason, it didn't work for me. So I was  one of you, those that haven't read the series, putting this series aside. WHAT A BAD MOVE! Late October, I decided to give the series another try. This time, I would be reading it.... Let me just say I read all three books in two days.

There are some books that you love and then there are books you become obsessed with. Falling Kingdoms, my friend, is one of them!

As you read the world of this series, you will easily fall in love with the world building, the characters, the twists, the politics and the madness. This fantasy series is by no means your typical fantasy story, well close to Game of Thrones.

To say the least, Frozen Tides is one heck of a sequel. The day I received the book, I had to put everything away and just read. Legit, read this book in one sitting. As the sequels are released, this story just keeps getting better and better. The more I read, the more I want this world to come to live. I am a firm believer that HBO should buy the rights and make this into a TV series. I think they would simply do justice to the amaziness it contains.

There is so many twists on this book and one of them I honestly screamed "I KNEW IT!"... at 3 in the morning. I'm sure my neighbors were not happy!

Gosh, the betrayals! The magic! THE DANGER! THE SECRETS! THE ROMANCE. OMG, LET ME NOT FREAK OUT BECAUSE I AM STARTING TO FREAK OUT!

There is so much I wish I could tell you about Frozen Tides! THIS BOOK WAS EPIC!  I cannot tell you more because I will legit spoiled the story. And I love giving out spoilers but this is a story that YOU NEED TO READ!

Overall, Frozen Tides was beyond my expectations. Although Morgan just gave us a taste of SOMETHING I CANNOT SAY, I am counting down the days to get more of that SOMETHING. *giggles like a three year old*

If you haven't started this series, START RIGHT NOW, trust me you'll BE ADDICTED!

- Paelsia - this is the central country and it is said that is filled with magical grapes for amazing wine.
- Auranos - the most southern side of Mytica. This country is run by Bellos family and is filled with luxury

Gathering Darkness
Falling Kingdoms  #3
Author: Morgan Rhodes
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Fantasy
Released: December 9th 2014

In GATHERING DARKNESS, book three of the New York Times bestselling Falling Kingdoms series, the stakes have never been higher as three teams push forward on a race to find the Kindred, the four elemental crystals possessing ancient all-powerful magic, first:

Prince Magnus has just witnessed torture, death, and miracles during the bloody confrontation that decimated the rebel forces. Now he must choose between family and justice as his father, the cruel King Gaius, sets out to conquer all of Mytica. All Gaius needs now are the Kindred - the four elemental crystals that give godlike powers to their owner. But the King of Blood is not the only one hunting for this ancient, storied magic...

• THE KRAESHIANS join the hunt. Ashur and Amara, the royal siblings from the wealthy kingdom across the Silver Sea, charm and manipulate their way to the Kindred, proving to be more ruthless than perhaps even the King of Blood himself.

• THE REBELS forge ahead. Princess Cleo and vengeful Jonas lead them, slaying with sweetness, skill, and a secret that can control Lucia's overpowering magic - all so they can use the Kindred to win back their fallen kingdoms.

• THE WATCHERS follow Melenia out of the Sanctuary. They ally in the flesh with King Gaius, who vows to use Lucia's powers to unveil the Kindred.

The only certainty in the dark times is that whoever finds the magic first will control the fate of Mytica... but fate can be fickle when magic is involved.
