Friday Five: 4/8/11 - Follow Friday: Judge a Cover

It's Friday so that means Friday Five that was inspired by Author Cheryl Renee Herbsman. Our friends at Eve's Fan Garden and Page Turners also partake in this meme.

Each Friday we will post a question or topic, then respond with our five choices.

Which five books have a serious cliffhanger that you can't forget about?

Yara's Answers (in no particular order):

Ana's Answers (in no particular order):
  • Soul Stalker -  Timeless series -  Laura Kreitzer - I want to know whats going to happen now that the soul stalker is dead.
  • River Cast - Samantha Young - Now that Caia and Lucien are FINALLY together, I want to to know what they are going to do about Marita and the so called "war."
  • Lover Unleashed - J.R. Ward - The WARDen just teased us about Quinn and Blay.  I want to see if they FINALLY get together.  I sure hope so!!
  • Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyer -   I want to know what happens with Renesmee and Jacob, Edward and Bella.  Do they leave Forks? What happens with the Volturi??  So many questions and with my creative imagination, the possibilities are endless.  I just want to be told what happens!!!  LOL
  • Speed Dating with the Dead - Scott Nicholson - At the end Kendra discovers who she is and that she has a mission to complete.  The story just ended there and it left me wanting to know what happens next.  It would be nice if the author decided to make this into a series, but nope.  It just leaves the reader wondering what happens...

Question: Do You Judge A Book By It's Cover?

Yara's Answer: 80% of the time yes. It's hard to spend money on a book that does not look appealing at all. I have changed a bit since I have read some really amazing books with bad covers, so I try to read the blurb and decided from there.

Ana's Answer: Guilty... (ashamed face)  I know its wrong and I have even read books after thinking " OMG this book is really going to stink" and they have turned out to be really good.  I know we shouldn't, but sometimes I just cant help myself.

  1. I'm guilty of judging a book by its cover too. :) I think we all are to some extent.

  3. It seems like most of us are in the same boat on pretty covers - it will make us pick it up but won't necessarily make us buy it or read it, though an ugly cover might detract us from a book totally! I've been really surprised by everyone's answers being similar (and totally guilty!).

  4. It's hard not to browse and pick up books with pretty covers, but I've learn the hard way that a pretty cover doesn't always mean a good story. I'm a new follower! My FF is at Coffee Table Reviews

  5. I agree with you guys with the covers. And I think many of us readers go on the cover if they're just browsing for books. Description probably comes next. Or it does for me! :) That's what decides if I'll buy it or give it a try.

I'm a new follower. Really like the look of your blog.

  7. It would be difficult not to judge a book by its cover with all the amazing covers that adorn the bookstore shelves! For me, that is only the beginning. The story has to have appeal too and I always browse the pages before buying.
