The Spring Girls is said to be a modern retelling of Little Women, which I can't recall if I actually read the original. I know I have seen the movie version of Little Women, but can't say if I read the original story. So with that being said, I just had the knowledge of the movie version to compare to The Spring Girls. Which I could see how they could have similarities. 

The Spring Girls is about Amy, Beth, Jo and Meg. They are military "brats" pretty much. The dad is overseas and they are home with mom only. So you can imagine the craziness. If you have this many sisters, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. The story is modern, so it's all about their life issues in 2017. Each sister is different from the next and as much as they love each other, they hate each other too. I wasn't bored by the sisters, but I also wasn't captured by any one in particular. During the book, I had moments that reminded me of my youth and then others were I caught myself rolling my eyes. What made me stick to the story were the moments that did uplift you. 

The pace is slow and steady throughout the whole book. There are a handful of moments, that make you smile and then it's back to drama lama. The Spring Girls is an easy read. It's definitely different from Anna Todd's other novels.

The characters have great chemistry. And this is super important in all stories. Even with a "fake marriage" they had that natural chemistry. Each character has such great qualities about them. Holland, especially, she is the friend you make sure you never loose. She will always be there to guide, push and help you how ever she can. That's Holland, and that's what she does for Calvin. 

Now Calvin, was probably super hot for most readers, me I'm not a fan a redheads so much, but the music did make him more appealing to me. Plus he is an all around good guy. The fact that he played in subways to make a living, really spoke to me. Makes you understand better the sacrifices people have to make sometimes to make it on a daily basis.

I seriously did not think Jennifer Probst could top Any Time, Any Place (my favorite in the Billionaire Builders Series) but she did.  I am constantly blown away by Jennifer's ability to completely capture me with her words.  She writes the best characters.

All or Nothing at All is book three in the Billionaire Builders series and it has become my new favorite.  I was so excited to get my hands on Tristian and Sydney's story.  We met them throughout the series and they really intrigued me from the start.  I knew their story would slay me.  This book was sexy, emotional, and angst filled.  In other words it was one of those books that stays with you, that leaves a mark.

Tristan is hands down my favorite brother.  It's so hard to say that because I love all the brothers but Tristan just takes it to another level.  Tristan and Sydney have history, a very complicated past.  This book is about second chances.  It can be read as a standolone but I highly recommend reading the whole series because it's bloody brilliant.

I am rating this book 4.5 stars because I loved this story so much and am so happy I got to visit their world again.  Definitely go one click this baby.

This was such a fun read, as are all Alice Clayton books.  We are back in New York where Clara is brought in to completely update a luxury resort.  She is very much looking forward to making the hotel really shine when her almost boss, Archie, is not happy about all the changes to come.  The two are definitely at odds with each other but have an undeniable attraction going on.  Perfect set up for an amazing story!

I loved this book!  It has been my favorite book so far in the Hudson Valley series.  Which is saying a lot because I really loved the other books also.  Seriously Alice Clayton can do no wrong, I always enjoy every single one of her books.

I love Clara and Archie!  Clara is an amazing woman.  She is strong, talented, smart, and beautiful!  The total package!  I want to be her when I grow up.  Archie is set in his ways and traditions.  He's so stubborn that he reminds me of my husband.  I laughed out loud many times reading this book and seeing the banter between the two characters.

I am rating this book 4.5 stars because it was such a fun, romantic, story.  It kept me entertained the entire time and that's hard to do with my ADD.  I highly recommend this book and all of Alice Clayton's books!

Any time any place was a great book, I loved it!  This is the first book I have read by Jennifer Probst and it will definitely not be the last!  I was able to read this book as a stand alone even though it is a part of a series.

Raven was a beautiful, independent, strong woman that has dealt with the loss of a mother at a young age and her father at the age of 19. Her father ran off with a women Raven never knew about heading to Paris, but tragically died in an accident on the way to the airport. Raven blamed the woman, Diane Pierce, for "seducing" her father. Diane's family slewed hate and accusations about Raven's father being the manipulator to a naive, unhappily married woman, ruining his reputation. Raven wanted revenge against Diane's husband and three sons, until they came into her bar many years later. She decided to get to know the youngest son, Dalton, better to find out more about the horrible woman that stole her father. What she didn't count on, was falling for him.

Holy hell can Jennifer write a story.  She captured me from page one of this book. Raven is tied for first in my all time favorite heroine list.  I absolutely love that the she is so bad ass. She can defend herself, which she proves many times throughout the book.  She can handle her own does so effortlessly.

Dalton, good lawd in heaven, he is an absolute dream man. Not only is he drop dead gorgeous but he's sweet, swoon worthy, sarcastic, and works excellent with wood. Need I say more!?  The chemistry between Dalton and Raven is heart pounding-ly insane!!  I loved getting to know the Pierce brothers and Morgan, the oldest pierce brothers fiancé. She's as badass as Raven. Excellent character development. I feel like these characters are friends and loved living in their world.

I'm rating this story 5 stars because Jennifer Probst is a genius author. Her words captivate and leave you wanting more!!  I cannot wait to read the next book!  I highly recommend reading this series!

Book Review: Beautiful by Christina Lauren

Ugh you guyssss. Does it have to be the end of this series? Does it really? I would totally dig a novella from each couple every year, just a check in, see how they’re doing, see if panties are still getting ripped, secret pictures being taken, players playing. You know...the usual stuff you get curious about. So when this book arrived I was nearly in tears, and I thought if I don't read it, doesn't really end? I can hold this off, right? But then I remembered Will was in this book so holding off on reading this lasted all of 20 minutes and that 20 minutes were spent taking pictures of it and smelling it and thanking the book gods for this epic arc.

So I don’t know if I’ve made it clear or not, so if I haven’t I seem to have a bit of an attachment to this series. Beautiful Bastard was one of the first books that consumed me so quickly that I didn’t get up until it was over and nothing has changed since. Beautiful follows Jensen (Hanna’s older brother/Will’s BFF) and Pippa who we first met in Beautiful Secret as Ruby’s best friend and coworker. Pippa is definitely that eccentric, blunt, and says anything that comes to mind. She just comes off the page and makes you want to be best friends with her. So when she finds her boyfriend shagging another lady she just needs to get out of her headspace and have a holiday. And where would should Pippa go? America of course! Next step is getting drunk on a plane next to very delicious, meticulously polished man, and telling while explaining her whole life story. Well you would never guess who Mr. Pressed Pants turned out to be (well you’ve probably guessed) Jensen! You’d think their paths would end there, they wouldn’t cross again, not in Boston, it’s huge there! HA! Well Pippa walks in on Jensen telling his sister all about the mess of a woman he had to sit next to on his flight. And well that hot mess was Pippa. Things happen, stuff falls into place, and Pippa and Jensen find themselves the lone wolves on a two week long winetrip, I mean roadtrip, to drink a lot of wine and have an amazing time with Will, Hanna, Niall, and Ruby.

While Pippa is having a holiday away from her issues, Hanna keeps slapping Jensen in the face with his. Like, how he is single, works way too much, and doesn’t have much of a life outside his work and family. Jensen had been married before and then shortly after the wedding his wife up and left with no explanation and while he believes he’s over it, he still carries some of the baggage and hurt from the past. So we mix two very established couples (hey Will) with two very single strangers, add a lot of wine, and no cell service, and we get, well you’ll have to read it to see what we get, because it’s amamamazing.

Whether you’re mourning the end of this series or just beginning to fall in love, The Beautiful Series is just that, beautiful. The characters are vibrant and strong, their stories invite you and make you feel like you’re part of the family. I hate to say goodbye but I am so glad I was along for the ride.

We all fell in love with Hessa, and everything that they were. We loved being a part of their world - so much so that we now get a new look into their world. Landon - most people's favorite character apart from Tessa or Hardin. We now get his story. He has a love life, which we really don't see in the After series. So to be able to follow him is something that most of Todd's fans will love to do.

It's such a different style of writing. Yes you can tell that it is Todd but we're use to Hardin. Hardin who throws everyone on a rollercoaster ride and gives them whiplash. We sit there cursing him while loving him and wondering how he got us wrapped around his fingers.

Yet Landon is the exact opposite. Landon is the light to Hardin's dark.

Landon is the nice guy that almost every single girl says they want - until they go for the Hardin's of the world. He takes care of the women in his life to the best of his abilities, and he cares deeply for them no matter what.

It was a nice break to read one of Todd's books and not have to sit there and yell at the book then cry at the book. There were moments that made me "awwwhhhh" and want to hug Landon, and we did catch glimpses of Hardin (which, I'm biased but I feel like those were my favorite parts).

It also ends in a way where I can't wait for Nothing Less because, while Landon is okay with where he's at, there's not really any closure for him in certain parts of his arc. So I'm excited to see where Todd decides to take Landon.

Interview

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and a unique or quirky habit of yours.
Nina: I listen to a weather app while I’m writing. Mostly thunderstorms which sounds weird but it’s sort of zen and it prevents me from singing along while typing (which happened before I found the app : )
Alice: I either need total silence or music with no lyrics. Nina actually told me about the Harry Potter soundtrack station on Pandora, it’s all movie film scores which is pretty good to write to and NO SINGING. But occasionally, especially when I’m writing a sex scene, I go back to listening to Prodigy. Firestarter is great sex scene music.

At what point did you start writing fanfic? 
Nina: Oh, boy. I would say the first time was probably junior high school and Sweet Valley High books. The most extensive fandom participation before Twilight was Harry Potter. I was/am a HUGE Snermione fan. Please don’t judge me. Twilight though is the fandom I’m most grateful for because I made so many lifelong friends there.
Alice: I started writing fanfic sometime around 2008, just before the first Twilight movie came out. It’s been the only fandom I’ve been involved with. I loved it.

Did you do any writing before hand?
Nina: I’ve always written something but usually really bad poetry for school competitions. Honestly, it’s abysmal. A ton of short stories, also for contests. I’ve won a few as well but that was as a kid.
Alice: Nope, the first piece of fiction I ever wrote was Twilight fanfiction, what ended up becoming The Unidentified Redhead. In fact the only things I’ve ever written have ended up being published. I completely backed into this career in the most wonderful way.

How was the transition from fanfic to published books?
Nina: I detoured from writing fic to publishing myself through the path of publicity, which I love dearly. Being on the other side of things has been a test to my patience and very likely a test to Gallery our lovely publisher. I have a tendency of inserting myself into everything because I can’t shut the PR side of my brain off! Sorry, Kristin, Diana and Liz! 
Alice: When it happened, it was both amazing and awful. It’s easy to forget but at the time there was an enormous backlash from within the online writing community about publishing fan fiction. Once Fifty Shades of Grey came out, and then Wallbanger and Beautiful Bastard it just got worse. While readers were discovering these books and loving the characters and storytelling and entire community of fan fiction readers were making it their life’s work to troll the internet stirring the pot and doing everything they could to tear us down. Publishing Wallbanger is the single best decision I’ve ever made in my adult life, and I don’t regret it for a second. But that early success and the memory of it definitely has a strange underbelly when I think back on it.

What inspired you both to write Roman Crazy? How did you come up with the title?
Nina: I had just come back from Italy when a friend told me about her divorce/marriage explosion. It was just a completely awful situation and no amount of kind words or gestures seemed to be helping. I was on the phone with Alice and really just joked about my friend needing a trip to Italy to have a torrid affair with a gorgeous Italian as a way to get over it. Alice said, why just Italy, why not all of Europe. And thus, Broads Abroad was born.
Alice: There’s a fascination I think, especially for American women, about Europe. Specifially the men. Specifically hot men. Specifically hot men with gorgeous sounding accents. And as we get a bit older and a bit nostalgic for earlier crazier days, there’s something great about the idea of having an escape in Italy, or France, or wherever. Just throwing a leg around whatever you want in Europe, an ocean away from your real life. There are so many opportunities for adventure, for romance, that it just seemed to be begging for a romance series.

What are 3 things you must have while writing?
Nina: Thunderstorm app, hot tea and my dog warming my feet
Alice: Coffee, a quiet house or a crowded Panera.

What is your favorite books/authors? Any recommendations? 
Nina: That’s like picking a favorite child. I would say check my Goodreads. I do fill that out pretty frequently. I’m lucky enough to work with a ton of amazingly talented friends and authors.
Alice: I always say this, my all time favorite book is The Stand by Stephen King. I reread it every summer. Although this summer I’m behind on his last few books so I finally just finished 11/22/63 (incredible) and am about halfway through Revival (trippy).
