After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Mission Impossible: Fallout Director: Christopher McQuarrie WritersChristopher McQuarrie, Bruce Geller Starring:Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Henry Cavill MPAA Rating: R Official Socials:Site |Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | IMDb Hashtag#MissionImpossible
Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race against time after a mission gone wrong.
I haven't seen all Mission Impossible movies (I stopped at part 3, and we are at part 6 now) for no particular reason other than I just never got around to it. But, what does this movie have that's special and made me jump on the opportunity to review it for you all? Not going to lie, it was Henry Cavill. Sure the movies are cool and Tom Cruise (who still looks the same he did 10 years ago! How does he do it?!) is an amazing action actor, but my little heart just loves Henry since he was in The Tudors all those years ago. So, I decided to accept to go review this movie and here goes what I think:
The Action. As to be expected, the action in the movie is basically non-stop. It starts, we meet Henry Cavill's character -Walker - and next scene, they're on a plane about to throw themselves off of it and parachute into Paris. Next scene: the infamous bathroom fighting scene that's in the trailer. You have absolutely no time to get bored or let your mind wonder to other things because there's always something going on on the screen. And this girl right here loves these types of movies. I don't do rom-coms or too much drama. Give me fight scenes, car chases, funny one-liners, and explosions all day. This movies satisfied the action-loving girl in me and I loved the motorcycle chase scene (parts of it seen in the trailer). We all know (and probably have seen) Henry is Superman, so those movies also have lots of action, but they're not like it is in this one. I feel he really proved himself to be an awesome action actor as well. The grace and agility with which he moves his incredibly tall and massive (and yummy) frame is just amazing to me.
The Anxiety. As all Tom Cruise action movies are, this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. I won't lie, I was having anxiety during the motorcycle chase scene because it was just intense. Things are happening here and there and Ethan Hunt in very typical Ethan Hunt style did things his way and unexpectedly and catching everyone by surprise. There were moments in which I thought he was going to follow orders, and then he surprised me with what he actually did and moments in which I didn't know how he was going to get out of the mess he was in, and then he always managed to find a way to do it. I really enjoyed being on the edge of my seat for the duration of the movie because it means it kept my attention (I am diagnosed with ADHD).
The Plot. The plot isn't anything too original in an action movie -of any franchise -but it still was good, I think. There's a lot of trickery and mystery as to whom the real enemy is (because it's never the super obvious ones). I won't spoil it for you guys, but when I watched the trailer there was something (I don't remember what exactly) that gave me the impression that a certain character was the bad guy, so to speak, but then I started to watch the movie, and that wasn't so. Then the movie progresses and it makes you doubt if that's the bad guy or girl, or not. At the end, it was who I thought it was and in the way I thought it was. That part I think was a little predictable and cliche, but the how they caught the person was good, funny, and what happens after was awesome (helicopters, explosions, the whole nine!).
The Storyline. I was able to keep up with the movie and its storyline, except for a few things, but that's not the movie's fault, it's mine for not having seen parts 4 and 5 before watching this (I just didn't think I needed to since each movie is basically standalone with very few things lingering from one movie to the next). I will definitely be re-watching all of them soon though, just to refresh my memory as to some of the things in the story and learn who Simon Pegg's, Ving Rhames's, and Rebecca Ferguson's characters are because they're all vital to the plot and I just love Simon Pegg.
My conclusion is that if you like watching gorgeous men doing lots of action scenes, with little romance here and there, and funny lines, then definitely go see this movie. I can't remember where I saw it or which critic said it (fail, I know), but I agree with what they said: Best Action Movie of 2018, hands down. I enjoyed it a lot and would absolutely re-watch it.

I’ll admit that the reason I finally watched Jack Reacher was that it was released in Blu-ray this past Tuesday. When it hit theaters back in December, I didn’t have the drive to see it until I found out that Jai Courtney (Spartacus: War of the Damned, Divergent) was in this film alongside Tom Cruise (Oblivion, Top Gun), by then it was already out of the theaters. Then I come to find out that Jack Reacher is an adaptation of Lee Child‘s novel One Shot. One Shot is the 9th book in Lee Child’s book series titled Jack Reacher. I haven’t read this series so my thoughts will reflected the movie itself. From looking at reviews of the book series online, its seems that the Jack Reacher series is popular and gets great reviews. Anyone that likes to read a good mystery thriller with tons of suspense should probably read the series by Lee Child.
Jack Reacher was mysterious and suspenseful. From the beginning of the movie when it opens with a man setting up a sniper rifle to take out bystanders from the parking garage across the Allegheny River from PNC Park you are immediately thrown into a suspenseful event. Why is this man there and killing these innocent people? Then the police are at the scene of the crime and find a fingerprint of the killer. Once the finger print is analyzed they have their suspect and it’s an open and shut case pretty much. So the suspect they go after is James Barr (Joseph Sikora) ex-military sniper. Barr is being interrogated and the one thing he does tell the police by jotting it down on a piece of notepad is “Get Jack Reacher”. Police are left wondering who the heck Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) is and why does their suspect want them to contact him. This gets the police looking up who Reacher is, they come to find out he is practically a ghost. Once a military police corps officer. The last 2 years Reacher hasn’t existed or pop up anywhere. So how does the police contact a man who doesn’t want to be found? Easy, Jack Reacher just drops in at the police station. Reacher saw on TV the headlines news about Barr and the killing spree and went straight to the police station. When Barr is taken to jail, he is brutally attacked and left in a coma. Jack meets the defense attorney Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike) and she request that Jack become a lead investigator in the case for her. Jack agrees and begins his task at dissecting the crime committed by Barr.
Jack immediately starts to uncover things the police missed or covered up. This is a story where you can’t always believe the evidence before you. Jack Reacher is Tom Cruise at Tom Cruise level. The man never goes in half-ass, he takes his career and acting serious and gives us 110%. In Jack Reacher he might have kicked it up a notch since he was one of the producers of the film. The chemistry between Jack Reacher and defense attorney Helen Rodin was believable and they made a great duo. As I mentioned earlier in the review, I wanted to see Jai Courtney (Charlie) in this film and was pleased with his part and delivery as well. Jai looks great in this movie and was the ultimate villain. I can’t wait to see what Jai brings to the table in next spring’s Divergent release.
Great movie to check out if you haven’t yet. Guys will love it and I think the ladies will too just like I did. Why not, you get Tom Cruise for 2 hours on your TV screen.

Last night I attended a pre-screening of Universal Pictures’ Oblivion starring Tom Cruise as ‘Jack Harper’, Morgan Freeman as ‘Malcolm Beech’, Olga Kurylenko as ‘Julia Rusakova’ and Andrea Riseborough as ‘Victoria Olsen’. Oblivion was directed and produced by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy). The movie is based on Joseph’s unpublished graphic novel of the same name. The filming locations were Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana but much of the outside shots were in filmed Iceland. Filming in Iceland really did the film justice, it opened the gates for amazing outdoor footage. Being the Science-Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic, Dystopian film lover that I am, I was extremely excited to see the film and once the film ended, that level of excitement was multiplied. I was instantly ready to watch Oblivion again.
The film begins with Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) having a dream/vision. This is odd because he should have no memories since his memory was wiped clean before he began his mission as protocol. See, Jack is one of the last humans left on Earth after the invasion from the Alien Scavengers that took place sixty years earlier. In the invasion we suffered the loss of our Moon and them almost destroying Earth. We were able to win the battle but to do so, destroyed Earth and made it inhabitable. Nuclear bombs were discharged and very little of Earth is left undamaged. Jack (Tom Cruise) is stationed on Earth with his communication partner and love interest Victoria (Andrea Riseborough). Their operation is to extract the Earth’s remaining resources and fix the drones used to kill any Scavengers that try to attack the towers. They must keep those Scavengers away from the towers that are being used to turn Earth’s water into a resource for Titan. Jack and Victoria are counting down the days until they are set to return back to Titan. Titan is where the humans that are left live which is located on one of Saturn’s moons. Jack begins to feel as if he is abandoning Earth by leaving. The recurring flashbacks and dreams he has might be the culprit behind his doubts. Victoria will quickly diminish any talk Jack starts and changes the subject each time. Victoria just wants to be done and go home to Titan.
While on one of Jack’s patrols he is the witness to a spacecraft crash. He is informed that Sally (Melissa Leo) at Mission Control wants him to stand down and ignore the crash because the drones will handle it. Jack ignores his commands because he is already at the site of the crash and no drones are visible and sees humans inside these capsules that are in hibernation mode. He reports this to Victoria, who begins to panic and tells Jack to leave. Jack investigates the spacecraft which ends up being a NASA Shuttle. Inside, he discovers one more capsule and in it is the woman from his dreams. While inside the shuttle, the drones arrive and begin to destroy all the sleep capsules outside. When one of the drones goes to destroy the capsule with the women inside, Jack steps in front so the drone will not shoot him and in the process destroy her. Jack loads the capsule on his airplane and takes it back to the tower he lives on, several thousand feet in the sky. Jack and Victoria proceed to open the capsule to wake the women inside. When the woman finally wakes up, she states her name is Julia (Olga Kurylenko) and that she can’t disclose what her mission was on the space shuttle. Jack informs her she has been asleep for 60 years and tells her everything that happened to Earth while she was in hibernation mode.
Now that Julia has been awakened, she is set on getting the flight recorder from the space shuttle. Jack decides to take her because they want to know what happened, so they leave before Victoria is awake. This is completely against protocol. Going back to the scene of the space shuttle crash will put several unexpected events into motion and Jack’s questions and doubts will triple. Jack will be tested and questioned and he will have to make life changing decisions that will affect the outcome of everyone including what’s left of Earth. A battle between Humans and Aliens will come to its epic finale once and for all.
To think this movie and plot came from an unpublished comic book is unreal. The world-building is incredible and the delivery compliments it. Being a futuristic science-fiction movie, you expect to see things that are not believable and look very fictitious. In Oblivion you don’t find yourself questioning that future (year 2077) before your eyes, you accepted it as a real future. Oblivion had me by the seat of my pants, several times I caught myself holding my breath. It’s a gripping movie from opening credits until the end. The soundtrack is fantastic and compliments the movie. It has the right balance of action, romance and mystery that will appeal to all ages. In the theater last night everyone left satisfied with the movie. The couple next to me that was in their late 50’s were absolutely moved by the film. The teenagers in front could not stop saying words like “awesome”, “badass” and “cool”. This is a movie I STRONGLY suggest you see in theaters so you can capture all of it greatness on the big screen, and if you have an IMAX theater near you, it’s worth paying the extra money to see on the IMAX screen. Tom Cruise did a stellar job as Jack and the man looked great and in shape. Jack had this Maverick (Top Gun) feel to him, I loved it.
