The Eternity Cure
Blood of Eden #2
Author: Julie Kagawa
Reading Level: YA
Genre: Dystopian/Paranormal
Release Date: April 30th 2013
Review Source: NetGalley-Harlequin Teen
Available: Amazon

Summary: (from goodreads) Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

As far as sequels go, The Eternity Cure was superb. Julie Kagawa did not hold back in this sequel. She gave me everything I would have expected and more. The action was pulsating. The romance was swoon-worthy. The Blood of Eden world that Julie has envisioned and written continues to amaze me how great and powerful it is.

I admire and respect authors that have no fear in what they write. Julie knew she would hurt or upset some of us if not all of us but she wrote it and I thank her for not holding back or sugar coating any scenes in The Eternity Cure. Everything in these pages supported and needed each other to create a fantastic book and top The Immortal Rules.

The Eternity Cures continue the story with Allison "Alli" now on the search for sire Kanin. She can feel that he is alive by the blood bond they share. She knows that he is being tortured by the horrible Sarren. Alli and Zeke set out to search for Kanin by following the connection when they stumble across (drum roll please) Jackal. Jackal is Alli blood brother. Thats why she felt the connection and thought it was Kanin's she was following. Jackal and Alli will set difference aside so they can search and aid their sire. During this escape they travel in to all parts and discover that Red Lung disease has become a bigger threat. Some how the disease has mutated or evolved into something much worse than before. Now Alli has the dilemma of finding and saving Kanin and also discovering who is behind the Red Lung disease.

In this sequel to were able to get deeper with the characters, see sides of them we didn't see in The Immortal Rules. Of course there were new characters introduced in this sequel to read about. Alli will continue to win our heart with her strength and will to fight for what's right. Zeke will be alongside her even though she is now a creature he was taught to hate and kill. Zeke and Alli make a powerful duo, they each will come to terms with how much they help each other out. Alli will have to fight off even bigger inner monsters and not let her true nature come out now. Zeke will open his heart and not leave anything to chance.

The secondary characters such as Kanin, Jackal, Sarren and Stick are as important in this story as Zeke and Alli. All these new faces help the flow immensely and flow like a lazy river on a Sunday afternoon, Ha! that's until you turn the corner and hit the white water rapids. So make sure to hold on tight and don't let go, because if you loose focus for a second you will be throw off.

Before I end this review I have to chat about the ending. Julie you sure no how to pluck a girl's heart right out of her chest. What an EPIC ending. I didn't chuck the book at the wall because I would have been throwing my iPad. I just can't believe where it ended and how it ended. I'm not mad at Julie on the country, she left it so its a matter of life and death how much I want to read the third book already. I wont spoil it but be prepared for the end!!!!

Overall this book was Ah-Ma-Zing!!! Its everything I love and more. One thing I truly love love love is the combination of genre that Julie brought together. You get your dose of Dystopian and Paranormal all in one thick novel. I recommend to anyone, young or old. You will LOVE it!!!

But just because something comes from the sky doesn't make it an angel. The Lords didn't come here from the heavens to save us. They came from some faraway solar system to colonize our planet, on The Day. We don't know what they look like inside their ships, but they're not angels. They destroyed my family the year I was born. What kind of angel would do that?  (Pg27, ARC)

Book Blast: Have No Shame by Melissa Foster + Giveaway

The racially-charged prejudice of the deep South forces eighteen-year-old Alison Tillman to confront societal norms—and her own beliefs—when she discovers the body of a hate crime victim, and the specter of forbidden love turns her safe, comfortable world upside down.

Alison has called Forrest Town, Arkansas home for the past eighteen years. Her mother’s Blue Bonnet meetings, her father toiling night and day on the family farm, and the division of life between the whites and the blacks are all Alison knows. The winter of 1967, just a few months before marrying her high school sweetheart, Alison finds the body of a black man floating in the river, and she begins to view her existence with new perspective. The oppression and hate of the south, the ugliness she once was able to avert her eyes from, now demands her attention.

When a secretive friendship with a young black man takes an unexpected romantic turn, Alison is forced to choose between her predetermined future, and the dangerous path that her heart yearns for.

Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Reading Level: YA
Genre: Contemporary
Released: January 2nd 2012
Review Source: Purchased
Available: Amazon

Summary: (from goodreads) Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.

A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?

Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight might very well be the longest book title I've ever read lol! Book covers are always the first thing that catch my attention when it comes to books. I have to say I completely fell in love with this cover. It looks like a movie poster for an upcoming indie film. And the story actually doesn't fall far from the tree.

We first meet Hadley Sullivan while she's on her way to the airport to get on a plane that's going to London. I bet you think she's ecstatic to be flying out to London; nope her feelings are the total opposite. Her father is getting re-married. You would think that would be a happy event right? But no that's far from the truth. Not only has she never met her step mom to be, but she's also the sole reason her dad left her mother in the first place. So, now you can see why Hadley isn't exactly thrilled to be flying out to London.

The universe seems to be on her side because, by just four minutes she misses her flight. You wouldn't think that four minutes could have such a drastic change to a day she's been dreading but it does. Since she missed her flight she got booked for the next one. But, while waiting she meets the ever-so-dashing Oliver. As fate would have it, he's on the same flight. Not only that, but they are sitting in the same row! See, here's something you should know- I don't usually like to read books where the main character meets the love interest and two minutes later she/he is falling head over heels over said character. I can safely say that this book is nothing like that. Smith does write a love at first sight story, but it develops into something so much more. I love that Hadley & Oliver's story felt so real & never actually crosses over to cheesy. Smith did a wonderful job finding the perfect balance of the two.
The summary might lead you to believe that it's main focus is the romance, but really we deal with much more heavier stuff. Both Hadley & Oliver are dealing with family issues. Through their short journey they have helped each other out without realizing it. My only downside to this whole story would have to be with something that happens towards the end. Something so big shouldn't have ended so perfectly. It just wasn't realistic for me.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is one roller coaster that I suggest getting on. It's a short, quick read that will have you turning the pages while smiling like a complete lunatic. If you're not a believer of love at first sight, I can pretty much guarantee that this book will change your mind.

Today we are excited to share with you our interview with New York Times best seller Jamie McGuire, the author of Beautiful Disaster & Walking Disaster. Jamie McGuire also has another series called Providence, that series contains these titles called: Providence (#1), Requiem (#2) and Eden (#3). Jamie was kind enough to answer these questions for us when I wasn't able to attend her signing in Houston recently because I was sick. So a big Thank you to Jamie for taking time out of her busy schedule.

Author Jamie McGuire

About the author: Jamie McGuire was born in Tulsa, OK. She attended the Northern Oklahoma College, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Autry Technology Center where she graduated with a degree in Radiography.

Her most recent novel, Walking Disaster debuted at #1 on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. She has also written bestselling contemporary romance Beautiful Disaster, and theProvidence series.

Jamie now lives in Enid, OK with her three children and husband Jeff, who is a real, live cowboy. They share their 30 acres with five horses, three dogs, and Rooster the cat.

Jamie McGuire Interview

OUaT: At what point in time did Travis tell you he wanted you to share his side of the story?

It was actually a fan that requested Travis’s point of view. He happily complied! Beautiful Disaster had just begun to really pick up in popularity, and readers were asking daily for a sequel. I was really happy with where their story ended. When I made an announcement last spring that I would not be writing a sequel, a fan messaged me to request a novel written from Travis’s POV. I thought that would be really fun, so I started Walking Disaster that week.

OUaT: Being a male and a hard-headed and possessive one at that, how often did you tell Travis to shut up?

Never. If at any point while writing for Travis I thought I had crossed a line, I knew I was doing it right. His character had already been developed, and it was important to me to stay true to his character.

OUaT: Have we read the last of Travis in Walking Disaster?

Travis, Abby, Shepley and America will have cameos in the Maddox brothers’ books.

OUaT: In your own opinion why do you think readers have connected so strongly with both books?

Beautiful Disaster broke a lot of rules. It wasn’t watered down or politically correct. It had a shock factor that readers found entertaining.

OUaT: When you began writing this story, who came first to you? Pigeon or Travis?

When I began writing Beautiful Disaster, it was in Abby’s POV, so I would say her, but I wrote the book from the beginning with both of them in mind.

OUaT: Changing the topic a bit, would you ever consider working on a book with another author and would you bring together each other’s characters or start fresh with new ones on collaboration?

It’s been brought up to me in the past. I’m not opposed to it, but I would definitely want to talk to other authors who’ve collaborated on a novel before.

OUaT: What can we expect next from Jamie McGuire?

I am working on an edge-of-your-seat novel called Red Hill. It begins on the day of the zombie apocalypse, and focuses on the points of view of three characters: a single mother separated from her children, a newly single father trying to find a safe place to raise his daughter, and a young woman in college traveling with her sister and their boyfriends. Their stories interweave without them knowing. It’s been a blast to write and I get more excited about it every day.

OUaT: Has there been any talk or inquiries about movie adaptions of your books?

Warner Brothers optioned Beautiful Disaster for film. Donald De Line is set to produce, and Julia Hart is writing the screenplay.
