Here is a sneak peek of the Shadows in the Silence book trailer coming out real soon from HarperTeen. Courtney has included a small blurb to go along with the sneak peek below.

Will
Will's actor, Vladislav (yes, he's from Russia - a motorcycle-riding Russian), was the only actor from the shoot I had never met before. I'd been talking to one of my friends, Laura, who played a demonic reaper, about which characters we had cast so far and I said, "So all I need is a tall, hot guy with dark hair!" Laura's reply was, "My boyfriend!" So she bullied Vlady into signing up and wow, he was such a good sport. He did a tremendous job and an even more tremendous favor for someone he'd never met before! Vlady showed up, 6ft4 and towering over all of us, and just jumped right into his role. He and Meghan (Ellie) had great chemistry together, despite Vlady's girlfriend Laura just off camera shouting at Meghan to keep her claws off her boyfriend! Half the shots I got of them together were of both of them laughing and/or glancing in fear/awkwardness behind me at Laura. It was such a fun shoot. I'm so happy to have that memory!

I remember the days of going to Books A Million at midnight with my son and/or friends for the latest books in the Harry Potter series, Twilight trilogy or the Hunger Games Series. But upon joining OUaT, I found that for 99% of my anticipated reads were just a phone call away to our awesome coven leader to be on the look out for the wanted title during her next received box of books. So when ARCs were printed and shipped for Shadows in the Silence, I knew it would be any day before my copy would be forwarded to me, as the wait has truly felt like an eternity.

For me, getting Shadows in the Silence reminded me when I stayed in lines for hours waiting on Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, only to look at the hardback book for weeks before reading it. My oldest had his own copy, started at midnight and finished within 24 hours. Thank-goodness he insisted on his own. So I guess by now you are wondering why all the back ground information and what is this comparison all about. Mockingjay was the final installment. Shadows in the Silence is the final installment. In other words for me, it is the end. Something that I have dreaded for months now. The end to something truly amazing and wonderfully written.

I didn't want to see it end. I stared at my copy for days before opening the pages. I was emotionally connected to Ellie and Will. I still am. Their lives, their longing for one another, their love. In Wings of the Wicked the ending was such a painful hit to me as the reader, that I was truly afraid to open the pages and begin Shadows in the Silence. However, I cleared one evening with my favorite coffee in hand and kept reading until my eyes failed me. There is very little that I can provide in this review, without spoiling the story. So I will close with this: If you are new to the Angelfire series, start with it first. Ellie is the greatest Angel there is with her guardian Will always at her side, ready to give his life for her, the one he will love for eternity. If Shadows in the Silence is your end as well, please know that the battle and war against good and evil still rages on. New faces are brought into the storyline and old faces drift away. Courtney ends this series with such great passion and vivid descriptions that there isn't one complaint that I can offer. I very seldom offer 5 trees. I view them as the ultimate rating. Perfection. No changes needed. Writing simply at it's best. Writing that I instilled in my students to strive for when they had a burning topic aching to be written down. From start to finish, Courtney Allison Moulton takes you on a journey that doesn't have a dull moment all the way through to the very last line of this novel. My heart ached when the end came, but what an adventurous journey it has been, all because of a book about an Angel and her guardian.

Wings of the Wicked an Angelfire Novel, was written by Courtney Allison Moulton. As I’ve mentioned previously in other reviews, sometimes, reading books out of sequence, is unavoidable, as was with this one. However, I can truly say after doing a little internet research for the first book and by visiting the author’s website, I was well on my way to a fantasy realm, that held me tight and wouldn’t let go until the very last page.

I must admit, the world of angels and reapers, threw me off a bit in the beginning. I wondered if this would be a book that would leave me questioning concepts while I was reading. As for me a great novel, sticks to my memory and pops in and out even after the end has come. Wings of the Wicked, is still there, even after I’ve closed the book one final time, anxiously awaiting Book three.

The reader is reintroduced quickly to Ellie, an angel, a preliator, “Gabriel” in her non human form. She is perceived as the main character, the one that is destined to save the world and the humans that live in it. Protecting them from the evilness that lurks from beyond the grim constantly, as she tries to live her life, under the radar as Ellie, an everyday high school girl, with every day problems that go along with the title of teenager. But, for me it is Will, Ellie’s earthly guardian, that stills my heart. Keeps me entangled in their every day fight for survival and the human world they protect. Will offers his total commitment and devotion to Ellie, never allowing his thoughts to wonder. He is hers forever. As she is the reason for his existence. She is the reason he is a guardian. A guardian of her life solely. As they fight against evil, it is their softly spoken affection for each other that keeps them together. As they fight for the ones around them, they also fight for the existence of their love. This novel is filled with tragedies sprinkled throughout, but its determination, commitment and perseverance, that keeps them fighting until the end.

There are many books that catch my eye, just by the cover, persuading me to pick it up and read it. Honestly, I may not have picked this book up, if passing by it in a book store. The cover of this novel does not, in my opinion, exemplify what the reader is in for. This was a great one. Give this one a chance, for the words within, will not let you go.

Book Review: Angelfire

Angelfire
Angelfire #1
Author: Courtney Allison Moulton
Pages: 464 pgs
Reading Level: YA
Published: February 15th 2011
Review Source: NetGalley and HarperCollins

This book started and maintained a slow pace for me, even though it has tons of action and violence. What kept it somewhat slow for me was that I felt lost through the story. So much to understand but no answers really explained. The characters are good and have a lot of potential to be great, especially the main character of the book Ellie. The flashbacks and dreams are over powering the story. The mythology is Great. I think the violence could have been toned down for being a YA. This is basically a story about Good vs. Evil.

Ellie the main character is fun to read, she has to learn to embrace her powers and actually by the end of the book she is still learning to. Being that she see Reapers, she has too fight off horrible creatures. You learn more about Ellie once she is brought together with Will. He is the typical sarcastic guy with some grumpiness on the side. Will of course loves Ellie, he is her guardian. He goes above and beyond to protect Ellie. This definitely not your normal paranormal Angels story, the book does leave you ready for the second book with tons of questions be be answered.

Summary: This debut, the first novel in a trilogy, is achingly romantic, terrifying, and filled with blistering action.

When seventeen-year-old Ellie starts seeing reapers - monstrous creatures who devour humans and send their souls to Hell - she finds herself on the front lines of a supernatural war between archangels and the Fallen and faced with the possible destruction of her soul.

A mysterious boy named Will reveals she is the reincarnation of an ancient warrior, the only one capable of wielding swords of angelfire to fight the reapers, and he is an immortal sworn to protect her in battle. Now that Ellie's powers have been awakened, a powerful reaper called Bastian has come forward to challenge her. He has employed a fierce assassin to eliminate her - an assassin who has already killed her once.

While balancing her dwindling social life and reaper-hunting duties, she and Will discover Bastian is searching for a dormant creature believed to be a true soul reaper. Bastian plans to use this weapon to ignite the End of Days and to destroy Ellie's soul, ending her rebirth cycle forever. Now, she must face an army of Bastian's most frightening reapers, prevent the soul reaper from consuming her soul, and uncover the secrets of her past lives - including truths that may be too frightening to remember.
