LYNN LARSH

Lynn Larsh considers herself to be a serial hobby-dabbler. I have loved every page of this series, reading Air Awakens was so much fun I was hooked fast. It's reminiscent of the Avatar the Last Air Bender (animated TV show) - but only in regards to book one, the series expands so much beyond that comparison. Book one of the series also reminded me faintly of Belle and that magnificent library and the slow build to acceptance and eventual love of Beauty & the Beast, again however it became so much more with the later books in the series.

I have been lucky to have been able to follow the series since Fire Fallings release, to have the glee and the excitement to read and pre order the next one. With Crystal Crowned I would read a little then put it down. I didn't want this story to end. I still really don't, and I'm hopeful that we as the readers will get to visit again in any possible future installments or revisit through other characters stories in Solaris.

What can I say about Crystal Crowned that won't give away major spoilers? Well, lets see now. Vhalla and Aldrik have managed to make it through a brutal war, and now with the onset of winter they have to make scarce as the false king reigns destruction down all around them upon the kingdom of Solaris. Friends have been lost along the way, old flames and magic have been ripped away since Vhalla took up with the Tower Guard, all for love. Is it worth it one might ask? Risking your friends, your heart and quite possibly your magic? For Vhalla, it has been difficult, but it's also worth the sacrifices she's had to make. Now, she needs to make one more. As Vhalla stares into the flames once more she isn't so sure she can do it this time, but times running out and a decision needs to be made before the nights out.

Vhalla Yarl has made it to the warfront in the North. Forged by blood and fire, she has steeled her heart for the final battle of the Solaris Empire’s conquest. The choices before Vhalla are no longer servitude or freedom, they are servitude or death. The stakes have never been higher as the Emperor maintains his iron grip on her fate, holding everything Vhalla still has left to lose in the balance.

This might be the best in the series so far, if that's at all possible.

In short, Vhalla has had to prove herself time and time again to the army, and the Emperor. The dance she and Aldrick take is starting to get wild, and is only harder for them to control and hide from the many prying eyes. War is looming ever closer now that they have all made it into the North woods, spies and enemies are abundant in the tree tops. The emperor demands her to secure the victory in this war, but bucks her at every turn. Vhalla struggles to tread along the Emperor's wants, and what her own heart wants. Is it Aldrick or to survive this war, and the Emperor?

At one point I was outwardly yelping with joy, screaming YES aloud!!

Now my heart breaks, even though I understand what'd happened I still don't like it. I might have acted differently in Vhalla's situation, probably killing one more person to do so, but I guess that's why I'm a Slytherin, I will however, start reading Water's Wrath to quickly remedy my mourning heart. Just get into the series if you haven't yet, it's so amazing.

Vhalla isn’t so sure whats going on around her, she’s just been going through the motions of daily life. Having left the library and no longer apprenticing there, everything's changed, from her foundation to her friends. Preparing for the eminent war is all she can do now. Vhalla hopes to keep her head held high, for those naysayers and show everyone she can meet the challenge, but even she doesn't believe in her bravado. If she doesn’t break from the constant pressure, she might just make it to the battlefield. No longer a library apprentice, and still an outcast as a wind-walker within the tower for mages. Vhalla isn't sure where her place is, and can’t seem to tap into her magic, maybe with Aldricks assistance things can fall into place. That will be easier said than done under the Emperors disconcerting gaze.

I cannot begin to say how much I enjoyed this book, this series is amazing. I re read from the beginning today around 10 am and just finished the book right now at 10 pm. Yes, twelve hours of reading, thank god I have the third book in my hands or my heart would be breaking (very much like Vhalla’s come to think of it). I was fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Elise Kova on January second 2016, over tea and coffee. She signed my copy of Fire Falling, thank you!

Vhalla Yarl loves being a library apprentice, and the smell of the pages she graces each day. Her circle of friends are a close nit group and everyday she works swiftly to hide and read the day away (pure bliss, am I right?).

That is, until Sareem starts seeing her differently, as a woman and not the childhood friend she prefers to remain. She also starts receiving notes slipped between pages within the Library from a secretive mentor of sorts, and oh yeah, she manages to unwittingly save one of the princes from disaster and it's starting to wreak havoc on her everyday life. Suddenly, drawing too much attention on her self from odd places, both high and low. Vhalla very much want's to sequester herself further into the library, but her Phantom isn't about to let her slip away that easily.

Upon completing chapter one, I felt the thrill and love of reading. I loved every moment of this book. Spoilers/not so spoilery: This novel is a mix of Avatar (not the blue kind), meets beauty and the beasts with those libraries ♡ with some awesome stuff all churned together.

After the first chapter I ran onto amazon ordered book 2 & 3!

Vhalla is a relate-able character, so human and acts like it. Kova writes her characters as realistic as possible adding the spark of greatness.
