MegaCon Tampa Bay Is This Weekend!

This weekend coming up is the second MegaCon in Tampa Bay and Once Upon a Twilight will be there to cover it! Make sure you stay tuned for the recap (also make sure you follow us on Instagram to watch our story throughout the weekend!). We are so incredibly excited to be covering this con for you guys and to get to see some of the guests that are attending, what cosplays the fans come up with, and hopefully some of the after parties and events, too. 

Last year, their first ever, they had none other than David Tennant! And, also, Billie Piper! I personally couldn't attend, but it must've been so amazing to see the 10th Doctor and Rose together again!! This year, though, we are having plenty of Doctor Who actors attend too! We are having the always amazing and fabulous John Barrowman 

and the amazing lady who played my favorite character in the show: River Song, Alex Kingston. I've seen them both before, but I can never ever get enough of them.

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes will also be attending! Jay and Silent Bob together once more! I can't wait for that panel! It's going to be so much fun! I actually met Kevin Smith once in San Diego Comic Con, and he's a super sweet and down to earth guy. 

Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) from Stranger Things will be there. This fandom has quickly become a big one with a huge following (me included!), and, even though I've seen these two before, it'll be so much fun to see them again! They were such a blast in the panel I saw them at last time (MegaCon Orlando in May of this year). 

Ian Somerhalder is also attending! I can never get enough of this guy! I've seen him about 3-4 times, yet I can never grow tired of him (because who can get enough of those gorgeous eyes?). He's such a gorgeous and special human being, inside and out. This time, though, I am getting my photo op with him (I couldn't last time I saw him). PS: Paul Wesley was signed up, but cancelled...yet again. He did the same thing for MegaCon Orlando in May. I am mad at him now!

But, the best news of all! Stan Lee is coming back to Florida and he's going to be helping raise funds to help the victims of hurricane Irma down in the keys. In light of the recent natural disaster, Stan Lee will auction off experiences and items that money cannot buy, including a one-on-one meal with Stan The Man himself, and artwork from his personal collection. The auction will happen on Friday, September 29 during his panel at MegaCon Tampa Bay. 

I can't wait to see if they announce more guests! In any case, the ones going are already amazing! I am so stoked for this weekend, you guys have no idea!

Bearing a strong similarity to the movie Unfriended in 2014. Mostly the movie consists of the expected jump-scares, plus attempts to "solve" the haunting by traveling to the place it all began, etc. One character, a young man with a crush on Laura, goes crazy over his unrequited love, which seems like a serious stretch. And other than being "friends" and having a good time, there's nothing of substance to any of these characters. I’ve seen much better genre selections that went straight to Netflix.

If Friend Request was really trying to say something about the dangers of social media, there might be some value to the story, but the film either isn't interested in that, or is so bad at doing so that the message gets lost.

Go see the new Kingsman movie.  There. I said it.  Kingsman : The Golden Circle deserves to be seen.  If you, as I, absolutely loved Kingsman : The Secret Service, you will enjoy this.

The Golden Circle has all of the elements that made the original Kingsman movie great.  The cast is back. Eggsy (played by Taron Egerton) is back with his story of coming of age, self-discovery and heart.  Harry (played by Colin Firth) is back with his brainy and death-defying skills. Merlin (played by Mark Strong) and all of his wonderful weapons are back, too. The gadgets, in all of their glory, are back.  Once again, there is a need to save the world from an eccentric villain.  The special effects are larger than life again, and the combat scenes are still exhilarating.

So, the questions remain, is The Golden Circle better than the original? Will you like the new installment as much as you liked the first chapter?  It kills me to say, but answers are “no” and “probably not,” respectively. The original Kingsman movie was fresh, edgy, and original, with just the right amount of juvenile adult humor mixed-in.  It was a delicate recipe. The Golden Circle has all the same ingredients in all the wrong proportions.

The Golden Circle goes wrong with the villain.  Remember Valentine (played by Samuel L. Jackson) in the first movie? He was a great parody of every Bond villain.  He dressed in loud leisurewear, he spoke with an extreme lisp, he loved McDonald’s food, and he detested the sight of blood.  It worked wonderfully.  The Golden Circle’s villain, Poppy (played by Julianne Moore), is boring by comparison.  She is boring and dull even not by comparison.  If I had never met Valentine, I would still dislike Poppy. Poppy is utterly forgettable, unfunny, flat, and boring. Instead of being a parody of a Bond villain, Poppy comes off as whiny and petulant. Her lair is unremarkable. Her gadgets are more twisted than interesting. Her henchmen are inconsequential. Bad, villain, bad! 

I also didn't like the introduction to the Statesman, the American "cousins" of Kingsman. For a film that runs well over two hours, there is very little development of the Statesman. I was disappointed that Tequila (played by Channing Tatum) was reduced to a bit part. Tequila was in all of the trailers. It seemed deceptive. Whiskey (played by Pedro Pascal) is the most interesting of the Statesmen, but we didn't get to explore his character and he felt very cliché. I also wanted to see Champ (played by Jeff Bridges) utilized more and utilized better. It's Jeff Bridges! Seems like a waste to make his character one-dimensional. The first installment was very much an ensemble affair. The new chapter isn't as inclusive.. The film is still very Eggsy and Harry centered, which isn't a bad thing, but it seemed like Matthew Vaughn (the producer and director) forgot the rest of the cast.  I did enjoy Gingerale (played by Halle Berry), but not enough to make up for the other issues with the Statesman. 

I also had a problem with how political the plot was written. I understand that the gist is international espionage, but I'm sick of the politics, everywhere. What has happened to the escapist nature of movies if even the Kingsman have to be so policial?  In the first installment, all of the world leaders and celebrities were being kidnapped, so there were some politics, funny politics. There was nothing funny about the politics in The Golden Circle. This installment had many cringe-worthy scenes and dialogue. I resented even the political statements that I agreed with because I hated that they were being forced into the plot. 

So why go, you ask? You have to see it for the "secret" cameo. A lot of outlets have divulged the celebrity in the secret cameo, but I'm not going to mention it, as not to spoil it for those that don't know. It's enough to say that the performance is hilarious and dynamic and it's everything that you loved about the first Kingsman movie. You also want to go see The Golden Circle to see the characters who you know and love. Merlin (played by Mark Strong) has a really great scene. You have to see how Harry survived being shot in the head. Finally, you have to see what is next for Eggsy. 

I'm glad that I saw The Golden Circle.. I'm hopeful that there will be a third chapter and that the spies can get back on track. There are still more stories to tell about the Kingsman. The first installment set a very high bar. The Golden Circle lowers it some, but it was still a fun and ridiculous adventure. See Kingsman : The Golden Circle playing everywhere now.

Oh how much I loved reading this story. I was not familiar with it before. It was originally printed in 1979. Milton the Moose is pretty awesome. I think all preschoolers would really enjoy this story told in the classroom at school. If a teacher is not familiar with this story, then please acquire this book.

Santa's Moose is classified as a Level 1 in the I Can Read books. It's a good little book to get new readers interested in reading, the illustrations are wonderful and colorful and this story is so much fun. They will want to know what Milton the Moose is up too. It will encourage them to want to practice their reading.

Now on to Milton and his story. Oh my gosh, so Milton is a moose in the woods, that is super excited about Christmas coming up. So when he comes across the 8 reindeers, on their way to the North Pole. Milton decides he wants to help Santa too. And what do you know, Santa says yes and away they go. Of course Milton is quite large since he is a moose and has a bit of trouble at first, but they he gets the hang of it and ends up saving Christmas you can say. It's a really adorable story. Perfect for the upcoming Christmas season.

This book has by far one of the best book dedications I've read. I knew after reading the dedication, that I was going to enjoy reading this book and discovering this new author's writing. And it did not disappoint, Seven Brothers of Sin, delivers just like you can imagine it will. If the synopsis and the dedication, don't lead you to believe that, then your not human, lol.

If your into reading smutty romances that are way, and I mean way out of the box (meaning normal), then Seven Brothers of Sin is your next read. Don't expect anything vanilla out of this book. Also if your quick to be offend or disgusted, also not your book. This was book was a fun, quick sexy read and should not be read at work. Unless you want to explain why your blushing.

The synopsis pretty much describes what is going to take place in this book, so I'm not gonna sit here and describe the same thing again. I will tell you that I connected with all the characters and the storyline kept a fun pace. Dee paints great pictures of each of the brothers. Who can not be turned on by dark hair and blue eyes, exactly? Grab your copy today, you'll thank me later.
