The Boss Baby was the perfect pick of the night. Since a friend recently moved to a new place and her nephews and niece around, this is the movie that kept them quiet while we adult into the new place. Don't worry even though they were the one watching... we were the ones paying more attention to this hysterical movie.

Timothy Templeton has it all. He has a loving family that dedicate their time to him. He is indeed loved by his parent but things start to fall when there is a new addition to the family... Although this baby looks like a normal baby, he talks like a full grown adult who is conducting a secret mission. Timothy is not thrilled about the arrival of this "boss baby" because his parents do not have his full attention like what he is used to. But soon he learns the truth. This baby is there to stop the launch of a new product from Puppy Co., which would limit the amount of love for babies. As jealousy strives, Tim agrees to help Boss Baby so he can leave so his parents can love him the way they used to.

The Boss Baby is such a fun and funny movie. It captures the joy of being a kid and the meaning of a family. It shows the rivalry between brothers and how silly one can be with jealousy conducting the its jealous. But no matter what, the love of a family overcomes everything. It's seriously funny and I loved it dearly! A great movie to spend time with the family.

What's the best thing to do on a Friday night? Watch a movie with your loved one and your very best fury baby. Thanks to Universal Studios, who sent over a copy of A Dog's Purpose we had the perfect Friday night planned out. Little did my dog Eleanor know that I was going to hold her a little tighter tonight. 

(Eleanor really got into this movie, she wanted me to take notes)

We got our popcorn popped, got comfortable on the couch and threw the movie in the bluray player. A Dog's Purpose begins with Ethan rescuing a dog from a hot car and then later adopting him as his own. Bailey, or as he was called often in the movie, Bailey Bailey Bailey. You got to witness the love and devotion a dog has for his owner, how they'll literally do anything and everything to make them smile. Bailey was there for Ethan's first kiss, there for his football games, and saved him from a life threatening event. Bailey was attached to Ethan's side at all times, until Bailey was too old to do so.

A Dog's Purpose follows one soul, through many dog's lives; Bailey, Ellie, Tino and Buddy. While I absolutely adored this movie, it most definitely made me cry, a lot. I held my Eleanor a little tighter (she may have been a tad annoyed by it) and knew I had something special with my fur baby. A dog may be man's best friend but they are a women's kick ass sidekick. She feeds on my emotions and all the crying I did during this movie made her a tad concerned but then I gave her a snack and she got over being worried about me quickly. 

For being an avid book reader and a lover or adaptations I've realized early on that movies will not follow the book 100% like I would have wanted. Since that is something I have come to terms with and accepted over time, I try my best to keep them separated. I try and appreciate the changes and additions, some I could have done without in the movie, but overall I still loved both. Obviously I will always believe the book is better (with a couple exceptions) since you have more time to dive into a story. I wish the ending wasn't changed from the book to movie since it kind of changed the overall message, but both still ended beautifully in my opinion. 

So thank you Universal Studios for a copy of A Dog's Purpose. It made me laugh, smile, and shed quiet a few tears. It was such a touching story and made you appreciate your dog even more, or made you want to get one, or like in my case want another one. Give me all the puppies. 

Friday Movie Night: The Light Between Oceans Movie Night Recap

How to spend a Friday night? By hosting a movie night! Thanks to Disney, who sent us a free movie package for The Light Between Oceans, Once Upon a Twilight invited some of our girls from South Florida for a gathering to host this movie. It's funny how it actually turned out to be. Not only were we heading to Universal Studio for Harry Potter Celebration but we were going to host this heartbreaking movie. It was the perfect gateaway for us and we greatly appreciate for being involved.

Once we arrived our destination, our "Harry Potter Castle", according to AirBnB, we were ready to start our movie night. As part of the surprise, we decided to open the box once we reached our rental and cozy up into our pajamas. When we finally did open our package, we were amazed by our package. Disney do not play. They know how to go all out. We were provided candles, tea, slippers, much needed tissues and of course the movie.

As we prepared to start the movie, we pure some wine to our glasses and began the movie. Needless to say, wine and sad movies do not mix. We were all crying, debating what is right and let's say comparing the movie to the book.... What can I say, we are bookworms! Based on a bestselling novel by M.L. Stedman, The Light Between Oceans tells the story of Tom Sherbourne who falls in love with Isabel. Tom is a lighthouse keeper on a remote island and within we see his early stages of his romance with Isabel. Most importantly the story of her miscarriages.

With Isabel's second miscarriage, comes a miracle or not, but boat washes ashore carrying a dead man and a crying baby. Isabel's heartbroken but with the new incomer, she begs Tom to keep the baby girl instead of reporting her to the authorities. As you may have guessed, Tom and Isabel end up meeting the biological mother and they are forced to make a decision that will change them forever.

Needless to say The Light Between Oceans is a very powerful story that will break your heart. Guilt is as strong as love and will drive you into an emotion roller coaster. So if you decide to check this movie out, which I recommend that you do, be sure to have tissues.

Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) is a daredevil billionaire at the top of his game.  His eponymous company FireBrand is nearing completion on its greatest achievement to date – the tallest skyscraper in the northern hemisphere. But Tom’s workaholic lifestyle has disconnected him from his family, particularly his beautiful wife Lara (Jennifer Garner) and his adoring daughter Rebecca (Malina Weissman).

Rebecca’s 11th birthday is here, and she wants the gift she wants every year, a cat. Tom hates cats, but he is without a gift and time is running out. It's been a while that we host a movie night. Why? Well it's been crazy, some of our members are pregnant, others have been out of the country and or state, others simply working crazy hours at work...Yeah, it's been insane. However, we are slowly getting back into motion and we are thrilled to host Nine Lives! 

This movie is not only funny but the fact that we were able to have our very lovable Luna join us was fantastic. If you've noticed from our previous movie nights, Luna is usually in the background as she is very antisocial (haha). However, we were honored to have her host this movie night. As you can see in the picture above she made sure we were watching the movie!

 

Luna may be antisocial but she really enjoyed her mat provided by Fox Home Ent. Insiders! It was a mission to have her on the "me" section but hey, that's what we love about Luna. She has her way and there is no other way. 

In addition of enjoying the movie, we received goodies for Luna such as her new collar and bowl. Again and as you can see in the picture, she was not thrilled to be taken pictures, let alone eat from her bowl.

 

But with the help of Aurora, Luna decided to take one last picture before we started the movie.

Nine Lives is a cute movie to watch with the family. The message of the movie is to cherish every moment with your love ones as one never knows when it will be your last time to see them. Having money is good but your family is better. And even though sometimes we are really busy with life, we have to learn to enjoy the smallest things in life. Such as having a family movie night! We all had fun and enjoyed the movie, even Luna! See family is important and Nine Lives portrays this.

Shrek #Swampathon Family Movie Night!

It's been years since I first tried, yes tried, to watch the first movie of Shrek. Honestly, I never finished it. To say the least, my friends were talking about Shrek hours before receiving the email for the Swampathon. My friends were shocked when I told them I never finished Shrek and never tried to watch it again. Obviously, they told me I needed to get to it pronto and when the email was opened and read, I had to say yes. I swear, it was like destiny was trying to tell me to watch Shrek.

As I received the items for the movie night, my friends were acting like 2 years old. As I stood in the sideline watching them fight over who will keep Fiona... I was wondering why. Little did I know, Fiona is a fierce character. So know I know why they were fighting LOL.

After everyone looked at the packaged, we took some pictures and save the game for last. As the kids, the real kids, were not home yet. (HA! The grown ups were having a movie night, while the kids were out parting, the irony!). We gather our popcorn, cold drinks and started watching the movie.

Although Shrek is a scary guy, he has a big heart. Which is why it is important to never judge a book by its cover. Each of these movies have great messages, from not judging to appreciating what you have to learning how to forgive. Shrek is more than meets the eyes. His movies surprised me and now I am really ashamed for not starting sooner. 

The films have some humorous moments, specially with Puss in Boots, great music and a mystery surrounding the plots. It's a great movie to spend time with family and friends. Overall, I really enjoyed all the movies and I hope everyone give it a chance.

One of my favor parts of the third movie is when Shrek realizes his mistakes. Sometimes life gives you lemons, but one has to learn how to make lemonade and enjoy it. Instead of walking away and giving up. Thankfully, he didn't give up easily and fought for the love of his life and his family. 

Even Jax wanted to join the fun!

When we were asked to host a girl's movie night for The Choice, we had to jump into the opportunity. We love Nicholas Sparks and his books. Anything that man writes or produced, we must read/watch. Although we know he likes giving us anxiety, Nicholas sure knows how to swoon any girl. Which you will be able to view our reactions through some our snapchats we saved. Throughout the movie the girls and I (Leydy) would either be swooning, crying or screaming out loud. 

Before I get through out movie night, I want to share this cute image that was shared on our social media pages.

As soon as this as we finished taking this picture, with our glasses full, our food ready, we went to the family room sat down and started our night. 

We've discovered the beauty of Snapchat and here are so of our reactions while watching The Choice. Yes, wine does crazy things...

Let's be honest, the first thing that comes in mind when you're watching a Nicholas Sparks movie is, WHO WILL DIE? Yes, that was our first question of the night. And we had to put that our our Snapchat.

I had to take a closer picture of our new wine glasses. These are adorable and they match the movie. 

Let's talk about the movie! Gabby is Travis neighbor and she goes off on him because she is blaming his dog in getting her dog pregnant. She's a little fierce person. Gabby has a boyfriend but sparks between her and Travis are off the roof and soon she will start getting attached to him. 

Typical Nicholas... Making us swoon only to make our temperature high within seconds. Here we are swooning like little girls only to be screaming SHE DOESN'T DESERVE YOU!

Just to freak you how and make you go back to WHO WILL DIE?!

And make you cry and not be ashamed.

Just so he can be like - Just kidding, here is the happy ending.

The Choice is yet again another of Nicholas' love story that is completely sure to pull on your heart strings and keep you riveted. Even if the story is predictable, Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer are a refreshing duo that keeps your interest and the director managed to present us a lovely love story.

So if you are in the mood for a romance movie, make sure to purchase The Choice.

OKAY, maybe not a Family Road Chip but a girls night in!

Can you believe how amazing these Friday movie nights are? They are so addicting! From the moment we receive the invites, we are counting down the hours. We love to get together and watch the movies from Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Home Insiders. It's a blast to spend time with your close friends and enjoy a great movie.

This time around, we were sent Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip film. As we watched the movies, we were talking about the places Alvin and the gang visited. One of our favorite place was New Orleans and it's funny how we were all trying to guess the places filmed in Miami. As we are from Miami. We talked so much while watching and even dance around... HAHA

Before we started the movie night, Andy decided to go Target and explore the store. She was able to find some goodies like this box:

Once everyone had everything set, we decided to head over our friend's house to join the rest of the gang and start our movie night. But first, we needed to post with our goodies, provided by Fox Home Insiders. Thank you so much for the drawstring backpacks, luggage tags, ear buds, stickers, activity pages, a Road Chip sign and of course Alvin! These are so adorable. (Spoilers: We didn't know there's a monkey in the movie, so this picture was perfection)! We all screamed OMG THERE'S A MONKEY!

We really enjoyed Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip. The story delivers the standard upbeat message about family. A family may not be flawless but want makes it perfect is the craziness, the mess and the adventures one encounters throughout life. We just have to go with the flow. It it brings you obstacles as a family we have to work together and get out of trouble. Like Alvin and the gang did. Indeed it was a great family movie.

Again, thank you Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Home Insiders for another amazing movie night! I can't wait for the next one!

One of the best things about blogging is sharing the love of something you really love. Here at Once Upon a Twilight, we started by sharing our love for books. Now, we're sharing our love for movies, TV shows and conventions. It's been quite a ride. Specially with The Peanut Movie.

Right from the very beginning of this movie, we were honored to be invited to spend time with the Director, Writers and Animation Supervisor from The Peanuts Movie in New York City and Los Angeles. You can read more about this event by clicking the picture below:

This last Friday, we had a great time during our movie night hosted by Fox Home Entertainment. We had a blast! From opening the box, to playing with toys (yes, we were acting like 5 years old), to making a Peppermint Patty drink... My friends and I love our Friday Movie Nights. 

As we received our box, we had to shared on Instagram and Snapchat. This package included The Peanuts Movie Limited Edition gift set, Charlie Brown t-shirts, aviator hats, Snoopy plush, Peanuts baseballs, Peanuts kite (totally adorable), football coasters (again, we were playing like 5 years old), Peanuts tumblers, figurines, a Pez set, UNO card game, All detergent and a box of Horizon Organic crackers with cheese. Yes, so much goodies in a box. Of course, we had to put our shirts and hats while playing with our new figurines. Take a look:

After playing with our new toys, we decided to put everything next to our "Woodstock" but they look more like Cookie Monster... LOL

Before starting the movie, we decided to do a Peppermint Patty shot and of course, we had to share it on Snapchat and we had to save it to share it on our recap.

Katie was super excited to start the movie and she just started taking selfies. We even had a serious talk about Peppermint.... If you know what I mean.

The Peanut Movie was amazing, funny and just a reminisce of our childhood. These characters are classic and can never get too old to watch them. They will always make you smile no matter your age. This comical movie is now available in HD and DVD format. So make sure to get your copy.
