Black Widow: Red Vengeance
Black Widow #2
Author: Margaret Stohl
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Comics
Released: October 11 2016
Review Source: Marvel Press

BLACK WIDOW: RED VENGEANCE is the action-packed sequel tothe instant New York Times best-seller, BLACK WIDOW: FOREVER RED, penned by #1New York Times best-selling author Margaret Stohl. This time, Stohl takesreaders inside the minds of Marvel's most cunning and dangerous spies-BlackWidow and Red Widow-delving deeper into their powers and will reveal more thanever before about the infamous assassin and her fledgling hero-in-training.

Black Widow has a new partner in crime, Red Widow. The Widows are dealing with loosing Alexei, someone who was close to them both. And each grieving in their own ways. While trying to stay on top of their game while getting vengeance, it makes things a little bit messy.

Stohl has done it again. She has taken you on a journey with one of your favorite Avengers'. And if Black Widow isn't your favorite avenger these books will make you love her. Getting inside her brain and seeing how Natasha reacts to things is what makes her a great character. And Stohl brings to life her snark and cynicism in such a way that you only see her as a completely sarcastic and loveable character. And her relationship with Ava, her Red Widow, only makes you love her and Ava more than you knew you would.

The story picks up a little after the first one ended, but you get the sense that the character's mindset is set exactly how it was when we left them. And you almost feel as if it is your job to put their pieces back together. Stohl makes you feel their heartbreak and need for vengeance in a way that makes you feel as if she has made you a part of her book. She has allowed readers to become one of her characters within the story.

It's A Muggle Monday Recommendation!

We are not wizards or witches, but muggles. We don't live in a magical world... Hogwarts is not home. But don't let this put you down. We don't need magic to transform our world. We have thousands lives to explore and dystopian worlds to travels. From the words of JK Rowling, "The stories we love the best live in us forever".

It's a Muggle Monday Recommendation is a new weekly meme hosted by Once Upon a Twilight in hope that this story will cast a spell over you and live with you forever.

This week is dedicated to one of my all time favorite authors ever. I was introduced to her writing through Beautiful Creatures, and ever since reading that I will read any of her work.

If you enjoyed the Beautiful Creatures series then do yourself a favor and pick up Icons!

Book Review: Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl

Black Widow: Forever Red
Author: Margaret Stohl
Reading Level: Young Adult
Genre: Action
Released: October 13 2015
Review Source: Marvel press

This novel features all the thrilling adventure readers will expect from the Marvel brand, backed up by the young-adult cred of #1 New York Times bestselling author Margaret Stohl. Uncover a new side of the Marvel Universe, accessible to old fans and new readers alike, as Stohl weaves an unforgettable story through the world of the Black Widow.

Black Widow: Part of the Avengers, the super hero that everyone knows - but they don't really know who she is and what all she's about. This is your chance to get a look inside Natasha Romanov's life. Ava and Alex are connected in some way, yet they aren't aware of how or why. And when Black Widow comes to their rescue they're mixed into an action adventure they weren't ready for!

Let me preface this with the fact that Margaret Stohl is seriously one of my favorite authors. Anything she writes I will read. I swear, she is me - we have the same taste in nerdy things such as Dr. Who, Superheroes, seriously. Every book she writes has references to one of my other loves. So when I found out that Stohl was writing a book about Black Widow I knew I HAD TO get my hands on an arc. And I am completely 100% glad that I did.

Black Widow: Forever Red is everything that I love about reading. It has action in it, it has jokes thrown into it. Stohl keeps up on her pop culture and it's obvious with the jokes about One Direction, Taylor Swift, Biebs. And she's also conscious of the fact that she's writing a book about one of the Avengers. She knows there's fans who will read the book wanting there to be mention of their favorite Avenger. Mine is Captain America - I would've been happy with 1 mention of him, but there were multiple! And same goes for all the other Avengers.

Honestly it was nice to get a view inside Romanov's head, and I'm glad Stohl was the one to bring her to life. Stohl has the perfect writing style for Romanov. She's just the right amount of sarcasm, power and control for Romanov. I did fall into the trap of seeing Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, but honestly after reading Forever Red I'm 100% positive that this is how Romanov thinks, there is no other way.

Ava and Alex are great characters that help readers to feel connected to the story. It's hard for us to connect with Romanov - I'm not sure any of us could say we're a spy that kick's butt with Captain America by her side - but Ava is kind of a spy in training, and Alex is a short-tempered boy looking for a way to prove himself to a cute girl. I was able to connect with Ava because, let's face it...I'm going to be Black Widow's protégée...at least I can dream I'm going to be. It was nice to have the break from Romanov, with Ava and Alex you were always up to speed. With Romanov you felt as if she was always ten steps ahead of you and then you would be with her.

Honestly - this book is for everyone who loves superheroes. My dad plans on reading this book next. He saw me reading it and asked "when you're done can I read it?". So my advice to you? Pick this one up and give it a shot.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

1. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

I know your all probably killing me at the moment and screaming WHYYY?! I've read the first two and the novella's I just haven't gotten around to Ignite Me. I'm sure I'll love it (Warner<3), but around the time it finally it came out I was a bit burnt out by the whole dystopian world.

2. I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, #1)

Now this series I've been following since 2007! I absolutely adore anything written by Ally Carter (The Heist Society books are some of my fav), but it took so long for each book from this series to come out that by the time the new one was out I had kind of forgot what had happened. I have all of the books signed and I will sit down one of these days to reread it from the start.

3. Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

Controversy. I LOVED Divergent! I loved the world Veronica Roth had created and Insurgent was just as amazing. I started Allegiant, but I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. Maybe one day.

4. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

I'm just on a roll today right? Lol! I read City of Bones the day it actually came out. I remember this because I had actually pre-ordered the book. I was all types of obsessed with this book. My first copy was so worn out because I kept making people read it. For me the series ended where it should have originally ended at. City of Ashes. I couldn't have asked for a better tie up of that world.

5. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)

I can legit feel Shannon screaming at me. Sorry!!! I loved this book. Like really loved it. Why I never actually finished the series is beyond me. Just kidding I do know. School was kicking my butt and the time of reading for fun was pretty much nonexistent. It's on the top of my TBR though.

6. The Selection by Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I'm actually dying to dive into this series again to see what becomes of this characters.

7. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)

I'll be honesty I've only read the first book in the series. I was very much intrigued by everything that was going on, but I think the sheer size of each book is what's been holding me back lol!

8. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)

I'll actually be reading these books soon because she's actually coming down to Miami for Fierce Reads tour! The excitement is very much real!

9. Matched by Ally Condie

Matched (Matched, #1)

It was just another case of being burnt out from the genre. I went through a phase where I couldn't even finish a book because they would all blend so much. I've heard some really awesome things about this one so maybe I'll dive into it soon.

10. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)

Nora Grey's best friend. Plain and simple. She is the only reason why I have yet to finish this series. I want to because oh is the story good, but her best friend annoys the heck out of me.
